The House that Paapaw (and Daddy) Built!

I've been meaning to make this post for a few weeks now. It's appropriately titled because my dad (and Jess) spent countless hours putting Jack's beloved tree house/swing set together and getting it juuuuusssstttt right! Trust me, when I say they are perfectionists, I mean they are perfectionists! This swing set was a Christmas gift to Jack from my mom and dad. Come March, my dad was just itching to put it together for Jack to enjoy.

This project started in our garage and when the play set was partially assembled, they moved it into it's current spot in our yard. My dad and Jess both worked hard at putting it together..... but just setting it in the yard wasn't enough. By mutual agreement, they decided that it really needed to be boxed in, and have softer padding for the many tumbles Jack (has) and will likely take while playing there. So they went about boxing it in, bring in sand to level it out, putting down weed barrier, and then finally the pea gravel. Below are the pictures of the progression until now - a completed project - 20 x 30 play heaven for Jack!

Because of the new play set, I can no longer just let him out the back door and expect him to stay/play on the patio, he now beelines it straight for the play set, wanting to swing, slide, or just play with his shovels in the rocks.

Here is picture Jack and Grandpa on one of the first trips down the slide. He needed a steady hand the first couple of times but after that, he is just fine going down on his own. He even attempts to climb the ladder to the slide all on his own (which we found out he COULD do one day while we weren't paying close attention).

Easter 2010 was a great day. We started off the day at home. This was Jack's first (of many) Easter Egg Hunts.

Here is Jack at the Odon Lyons Club (Brower-side Easter) trying to stick a car down my shirt. What a little flirt I have!

Digging at Grandma and Papaw Brower's with his new shovels on Easter Sunday.

This last picture is of Jack by himself on a tricycle (or as jack calls it "Ocyle") at my Grandma and Grandpa Williams' house. Graham was pushing him down the hill on it and Jack loved it. We had a great time eating dinner with the entire family and it was fun to get all the little great-grandkids together.
