It seems like a few of my friends are selling their homes and advertising it on their blogs, so I thought it might be a good place to ask for help since we are looking for homes!
As many of you know, Jack and I will be moving back to Washington in October and Jess will follow shortly after in December. Believe it or not, time is flying and it's time for us to start out house hunt.
We would like to buy something before the end of November to take advantage of the current tax credit for new home buyers. Since we are not home very often, we felt that we really needed to take advantage of our visits to Indiana in the next couple months and begin our search.
We will be working with a realtor to get information on listed homes, however, the only way to hear about homes "for sale by owner" is through friends and family. That's where we need help. If you know of a home in the Washington area that falls somewhere in the below criteria... please keep us in mind and pass the information along. We would really appreciate it.
- Location: Washington, Indiana - preferrably on the North side of the bypass (but we have some flexibility here)
- Minimum of 3 bedrooms
- Minimum of 2 full baths
- At least 1500+ sq ft.
- Reasonably priced for a starter home (keep in mind this is being based on my salary alone)
- Basement is preferrable but not mandatory
- Nice neighborhood with a yard for Jack and "future Jacks" to play in (but not a ton of yard)
- Not a big fixer-upper (little projects are fine)
This is a home we expect to be in for 5-7 years, so we want to choose wisely! Thanks for your help in our home search.

Hey Tara:) I have a house for sale in Washington, in an awesome neighborhood!! My house is located off of Troy Rd. - Veale Elementary is in our "back yard!" (Camp Illiana area) 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, nice fenced in back yard, attached garage and another unattached garage in back. ready to move in - some small things need done but not much. Judy Clements is selling it at Century 21. oh tara, i hope you have better luck then what we are having... but our problem is that "on paper" beau will be unemployed in 6 months.... so you shouldn't have any problems.... we have given up for the time being and will start looking again when beau gets a start date for a job back home! let me know if i can help in any way!! we've checked out several houses!
