Hidden Treasures, Trouble & New Digs

The last couple of week we have been super busy. Jess is really ramping up to start his own chiropractic office in Washington (still a few months away). There is just so much prep work to get done! I have been a busy bee working at least 8-6 each night unless Jess calls me and needs me home to provide so relief. Sometimes he says that after an entire day, he and Jack just "get tired of each other" and need someone else around to break up the day.... and I don't mind being that person!

So onto the title of this post... Hidden Treasures. We've known for quite some time that Jack has a fondness of the sub-woofer sitting beside the TV and TV stand. We rely on this additional sound system because the regular sound coming out of our TV just doesn't meet Jess's standards (that's a guy for you). Jack loves to put his toys in the hole on the side of the sub-woofer and then reach his hand in there and dig around for it, like Buried Treasure. The problem here is that his hand is about the only one that can fit all the way inside the sub-woofer. My hand fits halfway; Jess's not at all.

So the other day Jack is back to his usual, putting things in the hole. Jess had finally had enough and decided that we were going to it. First things first, we needed to get whatever was inside there, out! We were quite prepared for the work and manipulation it would take to get the toys back where they belonged (out of the sub-woofer). It took at least 45 minutes and this is what we found after all was said and done.

Oh, and the 6 strips of Christmas wrapping paper I also pulled out of there is not shown here. That was previously discarded.

The second part to this post is that Jack fully understands the word TROUBLE. I use this instead of "no no" most of the time. For instance, "Jack if you do that, you are going to get in trouble". And I must say, it's working quite nicely. He is back to sleeping through the night (or at least until 6 am when he wants to come in mom and dad's bed for the last hour before waking up). On occasion, if he does wake during the night, I have been walking in there, telling him he's fine and walking out. If he continues to cry, I come back immediately and tell him to "lay down, go to sleep, stop crying, he's going to get in trouble"..... works like magic! Can't you tell by the happy boy in the picture? :)



As for the new digs, Jess ordered Jack this new pair of high tech baby shoes with what claims to be maximum flexibility, one of the lightest weight shoes ever, lots of breathability, and very easy to put on. We love them and Jack loves them!
